A note for all readers: As we skirt upon the edge of a new age of austerity in America, my expectations for paid readership are somewhat tempered. I do my best to balance publishing my most broadly useful and appealing work for free, and reserving that which is perhaps more detailed, esoteric, personal or vulnerable in these bonus paid editions. This particular piece, while not downright salacious, could be slightly compromising in some ways. It is also perhaps exceedingly eccentric. If that’s enticing enough, or if you otherwise have the means and desire to support this work, you can upgrade your subscription— I may promptly squander your patronage on tree seed. I am also planning to host a few virtual “meet-ups” for supporting readers this year. For the rest of folks, I am always thankful for your readership and thoughtful commentary. I will be eliminating the paywall on my earlier work here in the almanac for your perusal, providing further access to my complete archives.
And finally, I must acknowledge that my writing process has been shifting the past few months. I find that I am both writing and editing for longer periods of time. I also have an increasing workload related to some orchard planning at the moment, and am simultaneously beginning work on my first book. I may not always publish weekly in the next few months, but in a world oozing with “content”, I don’t believe that’s necessarily a bad thing.
