I teared up reading this, which is becoming a pattern as I read your work. That photograph of dark orange skies backlighting a mighty crown of a mighty tree is soothing.

Mr. Bramble--I would call you Brother if you would permit me, as we carry the same loves and duties and burdens. Mr. Bramble, you are a fine writer. Your capacity to find the words which I cannot brings healing, every bit as much as weeds.

Last night my girlfriend left me. We farmed together. She taught me a lot of what I know. I thought we were going to farm together until the very end. I am lost.

But I have a big bag of turnip seed, and a big bag of daikon radish seed. (I also have a lot of flea beetles.) There is a whole lot of clay to love on. Word on the street is phacelias can flower 45 days from planting, and I have a few beds to turn over. Maybe the bees will come out for a late season snack.

Right now I can't think of a whole lot of reasons to keep ticking. But I can plant turnips alright.

Wishing you peace. Thanks for writing.

Went and planted turnips today after reading this article, Ben! Thanks for reminding me how much I like them in a stew!
